Exfoliating away dead, dull and dry skin cells prior to tanning will better prepare the skin to receive the tanner. You can use our specially designed Pre-Tan Primer or Exfoliating Mitt, but any exfoliating formula will work fine. Moisturising dry areas such as ankles, elbows and knees will also help to create a beautiful even glow! 

Hands and feet can be tricky! Firstly, make sure you've exfoliated and moisturised your whole body at least an hour before applying your tanning product. To tan these areas, just use whatever product is leftover on the Dual Tanning Mitt after you have finished your body application to brush over these tricky areas. Our Miracle Brush is also a great tool to use to buff and blend these areas for a flawless finish!

1. Apply self-tanning product to the centre of the soft velvet back applicator

2. Hold either side of the applicator handles and glide the applicator smoothly over your back areas with a buffing motion.

3. Repeat another application (if required) until the whole back area has been evenly covered

We'd always advise that you prep and prime your skin with our Pre-Tan Primer before any tan application to ensure an even result. However, you can layer and top-up our tans to create a deeper result. Just make sure you moisturise daily after application to keep your tan looking tip top! 

Remember a tan lasts longer on hydrated skin! Most people find their Skinny Tan lasts up to 7 days and sometimes longer! For your longest lasting tan, we'd recommend moisturising daily after each shower to keep the skin hydrated and happy. Alternatively, to keep building your glow, we'd recommend using our moisturising Gradual Tanner. 

NOTE: Certain skincare, cleansers and chlorine will fade the tan quicker due to accelerated skin regeneration.

Yes, all Skinny Tan products are gentle enough to be used for a fabulous face tan! We recommend using a small amount of your self-tan product and blend onto the face using the Mitt or our Miracle Brush. 

NOTE: we would recommend carrying out a small patch test on the face before a full application as the skin on your face can be more sensitive than the rest of your body.

While your tan is still developing we don't recommend using perfumes or deodorants, as this will impact the colour result. Our self-tan should be applied to clean, dry skin (with the exception of a light moisturiser that can be applied to any dry patches beforehand). It's fine to use deodorants and perfumes after showering, however some products do contain ingredients that may dry the skin and cause your tan to fade faster than normal in those areas. 

Yes of course! Skinny Tan works by reacting with the aminos in your skin to give a lasting tan. However, like a real tan, it will fade faster in the sea or a pool as the chlorine and salt encourage a faster cell turnover. We would recommend just to do a light top up at the end of the day to keep your colour going.

Skinny Tan products dry super fast for minimal transfer, however, if you do buy a product with a guide colour some residue may transfer if you're hot and sweaty. Don't worry, any transferred tan will be easily removed in the washing machine! If you want extra confidence, our Dry Mist Finishing Spray will help set your tan - or you could try one of our products that has no colour guide built in such as our Coconut Water Range.

We'd recommend carrying out a patch test 24 hours before applying the tan to the rest of your body. However, if you believe you've had an allergic reaction as a result of an ingredient in our product, please rinse immediately and consult your doctor. Please also immediately stop using the product. We have a huge range of tanning solutions designed for every level of expertise and skin tone! If you're new to tanning either a gradual tanner or mousse texture is a great place to start, as they're easy to apply and leave a colour result that's buildable. Make sure you pick a tan with a guide colour too, which helps you see where you're applying! 

Both are super lightweight and easy to use: the mousse is a light and airy texture, while the whip is a little more dense and smells delicious! The choice is yours.

Many of our tans are available in 'original' and 'dark' versions, so there's a darker option if you like a deeper glow. Our Wonder Serum Express, Moisture Mousse Express and Dark Choc Whip tanner are definitely our darkest result if you're after something that makes you look and feel like you've been on holiday!  

Yes, absolutely you can and you should! Once your tan has developed and you've rinsed off the initial guide colour, we advise to apply the SPF over the top to ensure you're fully protected from the sun's damaging UV rays. 

We always advise you to use a mitt to help apply and buff our products, which will help eliminate streaking and reveal a uniform glow. If the tan starts to streak when applying, don’t worry - this is because you have a product with a colour guide built in, which will be washed away after developing to reveal a gorgeous streak-free result beneath. 

Our tans will fade as your skin cells shed naturally, and this can vary from person to person. To help speed up the process, you can take our Pre-Tan Primer and Exfoliating Mitt and gently buff away the old tan ready to start again!

We are called Skinny Tan as just like your Skinny Cappuccino, our tans contain fewer 'nasties' - we use over 90% naturally derived ingredients and hydrating oils to keep your skin in great condition when you tan.

We have five manufacturers, three of which are UK based. Our packaging lets you know which country our products are made, but the majority of Skinny Tan is manufactured in the UK. 

All products are shipped from our Warehouse in the NSW, Australia.

Once opened, your product will last approximately twelve months. It's best if it is stored in a cool and dry place, out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.  For an unopened product, we recommend this is used within one year for best results.

We don’t add any gluten into our formulations, however products may come into contact with gluten during the manufacturing process.

Skinny Tan does contain Almond Oil in a cosmetic and topical form. Skinny Tan may contain traces of nuts, we recommend you don't use if you're allergic.

The Glycerine in Skinny Tan does not contain Soya or Soybean and is derived from Rapeseed Oil.
